Start Point National Coast Watch

The waters around the South Devon coast are monitored 365 days a year by the National Coastwatch Institution. Stations around Devon are manned by unpaid volunteers who keep a watchful eye for emergencies at sea and also act as a contact point for emergencies onshore. Watches are maintained visually, with radio and radar. These stations are totally dependent upon the generosity of individuals, companies and other organisations for funding.
